Well, due to the storms out East, plans have changed from New Year's
in New Delhi to New Year's
over New Delhi. We spent several hours on Monday trying to figure out what was going to happen since our flight was cancelled. The earliest flight that we were able to get out of the US is now on Thursday. Unfortunately this means we will get into New Delhi at 1:15 a.m. on January 1, 2011. This effectively eliminates our time in Delhi/Agra since our flight out of Delhi is January 1 at 8:50 a.m. We are determined to at least make it to Agra and the Taj Mahal during our time in India, so look for updates on that!
The new flight itenerary is as follows:
- Thursday, Dec. 30 - Kansas City to Washington, D.C. on Lufthansa flight 8781
- Depart 11:48 a.m
- Arrive 3:09 p.m
- Dec. 30 - Washington, D.C. to Frankfurt, Germany on Lufthansa flight 419
- Dapart 5:50 p.m.
- Arrive 7:40 a.m.
- Dec. 31 - Frankfurt to Delhi on Lufhansa flight 760
- Depart 1:20 p.m.
- Arrive 1:15 a.m.
- Jan. 1 - Delhi to Chennai on Kingfisher flight 232
- Depart 8:50 a.m.
- Arrive 11:30 a.m.
Once we get to Chennai, the school has arranged for a taxi to pick us up and make the hour and a half drive to Vellore. Andy and I will then have the rest of Saturday and Sunday to get settled and work out the details of where we are supposed to be when we start work on Monday. I will have WiFi when I get to the house that I am staying in in Vellore, so stay in touch!
